Since its founding in 1867, when it was known as Gastown, Vancouver has grown to become one of the most important cities on the west coast and the largest port in Canada. The city first rose to prominence in 1887 when the construction of the transcontinental railway made it an ideal choice as a trading port with East Asia, a function that it continues to serve to this day. This has led to a fusion of cultures from both east and west that have created a unique atmosphere for the city.
Vancouver has been the host for many important events in its short life, the most prominent being the 1986 World Exposition on Transportation and Communication (or Expo ’86) and the 2010 Winter Olympics. In recent years, the city has also become a favoured destination for many movie and television productions, which has earned it the nickname “Hollywood North”. With several other important events on the horizon, Vancouver will continue to grow and evolve in the years to come.
Frequently voted one of the top cities in the world, Vancouver offers an entirely unique experience for its residents and future EHMC students. Nowhere else can you go hiking, skiing and swimming in the same day. A wide range of transportation options are available, including an extensive bus network, commuter trains, ferries and a world class skytrain system. These services are interconnected to simplify your journey to the many parts of the Greater Vancouver area, including Whistler, a world famous skiing destination. Downtown Vancouver features countless famous restaurants, shopping centres, hotels, movie theaters, as well as Stanley Park, Rogers Arena and BC Place Stadium. Vancouver is privileged to also be the home of the NHL's Vancouver Canucks, the MLS's Vancouver Whitecaps, and the CFL's BC Lions.

Executive Hotel Management College offers a truly unique combination of high level education and a direct pathway to the Executive Office. Our experience in the hospitality industry over the past 35 years has secured relationships and contacts within leading hotel and restaurant companies that no other college can provide. When we place our students into paid work placements and practicums, we personally discuss the career goals of each of our students with the owners and directors of the host organizations so that we maximize their chances to achieve their dreams of working as senior executives.
The parent company of EHMC has been in the hospitality business since 1979, providing education and high quality hotel management systems to leading hotels in the Canada, the US and Europe. The founder of EHMC, Ken Honborg, realized there was a significant gap in the education of up and coming hoteliers in Canada. Too many Colleges and Universities were providing graduates with theory based education; when they entered the workforce, the General Managers and owners were surprised to find that the majority of graduates could not perform at an acceptable level.
EHMC has secured strong partnerships and affiliations with many leading hotel and restaurant companies to guarantee our graduates can perform at the expected levels required in the industry. We expand their networks and build their resumes so that when they graduate, they are confident with their skills and experience to immediately take on leadership roles.
Similar to the Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Management preparation program that Mr. Honborg attended, EHMC combines real world practical experience with industry standard AHLA based education to best prepare our students to achieve their dreams of becoming the General Manager of a World Class hotel or restaurant.
